For the architects in the Sydney, Brisbane and Beijing based firm, design is more than a routine technical process; it is an art form. And this creative approach, Mr Heenan insists, is key. Of course, “we do structural analysis, environmental modelling, thermodynamic analysis, and materials research,” he adds. “But what you are really trying to do is get all over that and start being poetic. Start lifting it beyond the norm.”

These are among the many contributions Premier Building Group has made to the nation’s construction landscape. Premier Building Group is a design and construction firm that has been in the business of creating excellence for over 20 years. At the company’s inception, its main focus was the design and construction of clubs, and it has since expanded.
At its inception, founder Cyril Hornick was engaged in house extension, but he became a significant figure in the development of Brisbane (please see sidebar for further details) and first his son and more recently his grandson Adam have continued to build the business. As Adam tells us, “when my father took over the business, the industry was extremely competitive and he started diversifying into water retaining structures, which is what became our main focus.
The family owned, Alexandra based business specialises in energy efficient, custom built and architectural designed homes, renovations and extensions, and offers clients all services from conception to completion.
Brad explains that he started up the company 10 years ago and after the first year found himself with many projects, prompting a number of staff he had previously worked with to come and join Full Tilt. It “just grew from there.”
Since 1979, Bocol Constructions Pty Ltd has been constructing these bridges, roads and tunnels that make up key parts of the transportation system in Western Australia. Dick Boyle and John Colley started the company and it has been hard at work ever since.
